With exam season done and dusted, you’re probably sitting tight and waiting nervously for your results to come back. But where’s the fun in that?!
Now is your golden opportunity to enjoy a vacay! Sipping sangria by the pool with a good book in hand, soaking up that glorious sunshine, and exploring new places with your pals.
As a student, you’re probably worried about funding a summer hol when you’ve spent the majority of the last year living on a shoestring budget. Likewise, if you’ve never been abroad without your fam, booking a holiday can be pretty stressful – especially when you’ve got the flights, transfers, travel insurance, accommodation and activities to arrange.
However, we’re all about living our best life here at CARO Lettings. That’s why we’ve done our research and put together some top tips for making this summer the best one yet.
How to get cheap flights
The last thing you want to do is spend an absolute fortune on flights!
If you’re looking online and not too fussed about where you go – you’re just in desperate need of a break – choose your departure airport (e.g. Liverpool John Lennon Airport) and leave the destination box blank. Pick which dates you’d be looking to travel and hit search. Often, the more flexible you can be, the better deals you’ll get.
It also pays to try different airlines (i.e. Ryanair and easyJet) and see who can offer you the cheapest flights – both there and back.
How to pack luggage
Packing your suitcase and ensuring you have everything you need, without exceeding weight restrictions, is never easy. However, we have a few tricks up our sleeves to help.
To start, don’t leave it to the last minute. Packing the night before you fly just increases your chances of forgetting something important like your sun cream, beach towel or travel adaptor. If you can, make a checklist of all the items you want to take with you and tick them off once you’ve put them in your case.
Instead of folding your clothes and piling them on top of each other, consider rolling them. Not only will it allow you to fit more in, but it will also prevent them from getting creased.
How to save money
Most students book a package holiday, purely for the convenience of having the flights, transfers and accommodation included. It gives them one less thing to worry about when they land.
But the truth is, you can pay a lot more for an all-inclusive or half-board trip than you would for your flights and hotel separately. Therefore, have a look online for hotels in your chosen destination and select the amenities that matter most to you, to reveal the most suitable places to stay.
If you have friends and family who live abroad, you could ask them if they’ve got the space to put you up (even if it’s just for a couple of days). They’d probably love to have you and it means you won’t have to worry about buying food and drink.
Have you booked your accommodation for next year?
With our great hacks, you’re sure to have a successful (and affordable!) summer of fun. And whilst we know uni is probably the last thing on your mind at the minute, why not continue that success into September and get your accommodation sorted now?
