    Frequently Asked Questions

    How much is the rent?

Prices for the 2021/2022 academic will be released soon – make sure you keep checking back and are following us on social media!

We do have some pre-release rooms available at City Point and Shaw Street. These rooms are currently priced at £99pw on a 46 week contract.

    Book early to avoid disappointment!

    How long is the contract?

Our contracts for 2019/2020 are 46 weeks minimum.

Can I have a shorter contract?

Shorter contracts may be agreed, subject to availability and additional rent charges may apply. Please contact us if you need any more information on this.

    What are the payment options?

You can pay your full year in advance or we can break it down into 3 termly instalments with an initial payment. You must advise us when you secure your room which option you would like so we can set it out in your payment plan in your Tenancy Agreement.

    Do I need a guarantor?

Yes, if you wish to pay in instalments you must have a guarantor. The guarantor must be a UK resident & in full time employment. They are named on and will countersign your Tenancy Agreement and are legally responsible to ensure you comply with the terms of your contract including paying any rent or costs.

Your Guarantor will be required to pass a formal credit check with our referencing company before they can be accepted. They will be asked to provide detailed information to prove affordability, including details for their own income and you should let them know this in advance to avoid any embarrassment.

If you do not have a guarantor, eg, if you are an international student, you can still live at a CARO student scheme but full payment in advance is required.

Is there a booking fee or deposit?

The booking fee is £250.00 You will need to pay this to secure your bedspace at CARO Students.

This transfers to be your deposit once you move in – so providing there is no damage or outstanding rent arrears, you should get this back in full!

Your deposit will be protected by The Deposit Protection Service (custodial scheme) until the end of the tenancy.

If you need more information on the service go to www.depositprotection.com.

Which bills are included in the rent?

Your rent includes heating, electric & water costs.

Broadband internet connection is also included, subject to a fair usage policy.

    What about Council Tax?

All residents are required to be full time students and on this basis qualify for Council Tax exemption. You will need to contact the Council to obtain your own exemption certificate and a copy must be given to our team!

Do I need a TV License?

You are responsible for purchasing a TV Licence for the TV in your room. CARO will obtain necessary licenses for communal TV’s.

We recommend you take out adequate cover for all of your personal belongings. Specialist student contents products are available.

    Can I bring my bicycle?

We have bike storage facilities at every site. You will need to bring your own quality lock – Merseyside Police advise D locks are the most effective. A refundable deposit may be required for a key to access the bike storage at your building, please see the CARO team for details.

What are the security arrangements at CARO Students?

CARO in-house security personnel look after the CARO sites exclusively. They are based on site at various times and are available at all times via an emergency number 24 hours.
