5 Tips For Pre-Drinking At Uni

5 Tips For Pre-Drinking At Uni 5 Tips For Pre-Drinking At Uni

Whether you’re living away from home for the first time or going into your second or third year, you’re probably looking forward to partying hard at uni.

Whilst our student accommodation in Liverpool puts you within easy reach of the city’s lively nightlife, we appreciate that your budget might not always stretch to fancy cocktails and countless rounds of drinks in the local boozer.

But here at CARO Lettings, we have the perfect solution for cheap nights out…pre-drinks!

Having a few drinks at home before you go out will give you a chance to chat with your mates and play drinking games without spending a fortune in local bars and nightclubs. Plus, you get to choose the playlist.

Here are our top tips for making the most of ‘pres’ at your student accommodation in Liverpool.

1.    Buy low-cost drinks

What’s your tipple of choice? Whether it’s rosé, vodka and coke, gin and lemo or larger, it’s worth seeing what deals are on offer at your local supermarket and off-license.

Instead of splashing out on big brand names, consider buying supermarket-own brands. These taste just as good but are available for a fraction of the cost. In fact, they might even be stronger and will get you tipsy faster – meaning you won’t need to spend as much when you arrive at the club.

2.    Line your stomach

Before you start pre-drinking at your student accommodation, you need to eat something – preferably some greasy grub or foods that are high in fat and protein.

These take longer to digest and slow down alcohol absorption, preventing you from getting too drunk early on and saving you from waking up with a splitting headache the next morning.

3.    Give yourself enough time to get ready

Can’t decide what to wear? Hate doing your own hair and make-up? Getting ready with your housemates can be a great idea, as long as you leave enough time to do it.

Although you want to get a fair few drinks inside you before it’s time to go, nobody want’s wonky eyeliner and odd shoes, do they? With that in mind, avoid drinking too much alcohol until you’re ready and go at your own pace – it’s not a race!

4.    Prepare your accommodation for pre-drinks

If you’re hosting pres at your student accommodation in Liverpool, you need to make sure that there are enough glasses (or plastic cups) to go around. Fill ice cube trays with water and pop them in the freezer the night before. Use throws to protect the sofa against spillages. You could drape fairy lights around the room using Command strips or hang them on the garden fence outside too.

The combination of people, music, games and drinking increases the risk of breakages and spillages at your student digs. So hide valuables and breakable items before your mates arrive.

5.    Book taxis in advance

If you’re heading into town and don’t fancy walking from your student accommodation, you could hire a cab for you and your mates and split the bill. Depending on the taxi firm, you can either pre-book via the app or phone up on the day.

If you need a taxi on the way home, make sure you don’t leave it too late. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself at the back of the queue of like-minded students – ready to call it a night.

Pre-drinking with your friends at our Liverpool student accommodation will allow you to enjoy the party lifestyle without blowing your student loan in one night!

Get it right, and you’ll be merry enough to throw your best shapes on the dance floor or sing your heart out on karaoke without taking it too far and embarrassing yourself and your mates.

However, it’s important to always drink sensibly. Never leave your drink unattended – even if you’re only nipping to the loo – so it can’t be spiked! If you’ve gone out with a group of pals, make sure you look out for one another as the night goes on.
