4 Easy Ways To Get To Know Your Housemates

4 Easy Ways To Get To Know Your Housemates - Caro Lettings 4 Easy Ways To Get To Know Your Housemates

Leaving home for university? Moving from university halls to private housing in Liverpool?

Either way, it’s worth getting to know the people you’ll be living with for the next year or so. After all, you’ll be seeing a lot of each other and spending a lot of your time together – whether you like it or not.

We’re not saying you have to be BFFs, but taking the time to get to know each other will make your uni experience all the more enjoyable and help you to settle in quickly.

Read on for tips on how to get to know your housemates better whilst staying at our student accommodation in Liverpool.

1.    Play games

Board games, drinking games, video games – finding out more about the people you’re sharing accommodation with can be good fun.

Organising a games night at your student digs (when everyone is free) will allow even the shyest of housemates to step out of their comfort zone and get involved with the rest of the group.

2.    Go for a drink

Although our student accommodation in Liverpool is equipped with spacious communal areas – perfect for socialising – you may prefer to grab a drink at the nearest bar.

Even if you enjoy drinking pints and your housemates are cocktail connoisseurs or vice versa, Liverpool is renowned for its rich offering of watering holes. You’ll find everything from traditional pubs to cosy cocktail bars and lively clubs, allowing you to enjoy your tipple of choice whilst bonding with your housemates. What’s not to love?

3.    Cook together

Depending on everyone’s schedules, there may be times when you have to eat alone in the shared kitchen at your student accommodation. However, a great way to grow closer to your housemates is to have a sit-down meal together, at least once a week.

You could make a Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Or, if you fancy something a bit quicker and easier to make, how about a homemade pizza?

You can assign each other roles – i.e. one person buys the ingredients, someone else prepares them, another cooks them, and you do the washing up. Each week, you could swap roles so it’s fair.

4.    Plan a day out

Whether it be a trip to the cinema, crazy golf, an escape room, or the beach, there are lots of cheap and cheerful things you can do to really get to know the people staying at your student accommodation in Liverpool.

Sit down in the living room and gather all of your housemates. Grab a pen and notepad (or your phone) and jot down some ideas – making sure you give everyone a chance to suggest something. You can then take a vote at the end to decide what fun activity you do to break the ice.

Whatever you decide to do, try to be open-minded.

Remember, the best way to familiarise yourself with your housemates is to spend quality time with them. Listen to what they have to say and take an interest in their thoughts.

Who knows, they could be your life-long best friend in the making – even after you’ve finished studying at uni!
