Choosing Liverpool’s 10 best student nights is difficult given the city’s incredible night-life offering!
Perhaps one of Liverpool’s best attractions is its ability to provide a memorable student night out. From outrageous gatherings to quirky venues, there’s no shortage of what this city has to offer.
So what makes the perfect student night out? Well, cheap drinks for a start. No entry fee, if we can avoid it. Somewhere where there’s music for everyone is a bonus. And if it’s within walking distance of your Liverpool student accommodation (which many of the below places are), even better.
Here’s our list of the top 10 places for students to have a night out in Liverpool.
1. Brooklyn Mixer
Seel St
Tucked away in the lively Ropewalks area, Brooklyn Mixer is known for its lively cocktail concoctions and eclectic mix of music across three floors.
Beat the Monday blues with Brooklyn’s 2 for 1 offers on cocktails, as well as changing offers on shots, double mixers and bottles. To give you an insight, here’s a few you can expect: Pear Drop, Raspberry Tart, Chase The Rainbow, Draught of the Dead, and of course the famous Pornstar Martini.
2. Bongo’s Bingo
Greenland St
If you’ve not yet participated in a game of Bongo’s Bingo, you know what you’re doing this Thursday night. Although this is a club night rather than a venue, it happens at the same place every week and is an essential part of student life.
Expect Bingo but not as you know it, with naughty jokes, outrageous surprises and even the chance to win prizes whilst drinking.
In fact, we’re not sure we can sum up Crazy Bongo’s Bingo as well as the Liverpool Echo, who describe it as “the bastard child of traditional Bingo and a techno rave”. There. Now you’ve no excuse.
3. Heebie Jeebies
Seel St
Nobody can deny that Heebie Jeebies is a deserving long-standing veteran in this list, making it one of our top 10. With Friday night being the designated student night, it’s a great one for everyone as multiple areas offers varied music across the basement, courtyard and two floors.
If a Thursday night out is more your thing make the most of Heebie’s ‘Quids In’ offer with £1 VS / £1 Carlsberg / £1 Sambuca & Tequila and £2.50 Double Vodka Mix.
In fact, Heebies even took things up a notch back in August 2016, when it reopened its famous basement which now stands as its own bar EBGBS.
4. Revolution
City-wide
Another staple of Liverpool student life, Revolution offers amazing food and drinks deals. With sites across the city, including Wood St, Albert Dock, St Peter’s Sq and Cavern Quarter, you’re never too far away from a night out or a few quiet cocktails.
Revs is the kind of place you can take mum and dad to for lunch when they’re down to visit, before sending them back to the hotel and having a night out with friends.
5. Medication
East Village Arts Club
Medication has gone down in Liverpool history as one of the city’s most iconic student nights, and for good reason. Almost 20 years old, it rounds Fridays off with good measure at East Village Arts Club.
Expect confetti; expect sprinklers; expect a euphoric atmosphere over three rooms of music and of course cheap drinks. Oh, and there’s also themed fancy dress, lots of giveaways and tasty prizes to be won.
6. Level
Fleet St
A relative newcomer to Liverpool’s student scene, Level took up shop in 2014 and the city’s students haven’t looked back!
With celebrity appearances, three floors of music and some of the best drinks deals in town, Level has all the makings of the perfect student night out.
Wednesday nights would be nothing without Level’s Love Wednesdays, where drinks offers include £2.50 double vodka mix, four Jagerbombs for £5 and £1.50 selected bottles.
7. The Raz
Seel Street
We can’t do a run-down of Liverpool’s top 10 student nights without talking about the Raz! Located in the Blue Angel at the top of Seel Street, The Raz has got your Monday night covered.
Once voted Britain’s ‘easiest place to pull’, the Raz serves up 90p pints with a side of S Club 7 classics.
Don’t wear your best shoes for this one as you’ll no doubt leave with feet covered in the infamous ‘Raz juice’. But you won’t care because you’ll be buzzing from a night of drinking Fat Frogs and dancing to the best music from the early 2000s.
8. Red Door
Berry St
With its cool neon signage and contemporary charm, Red Door is becoming an increasing hot spot for students of all ages. Once a sworn secret, it’s now a regular watering hole for many, drawing people in with its broody and mysterious vibe.
Not only this – Red Door is also becoming more known for its quirky, ‘off-the-wall’ cocktails. As well as a roster of Happy Hour deals, the bar also specialises in bespoke spirits, unique sharers and creative concoctions. Drop by here when you’re feeling flush.
9. Roxy Ball Room
College Lane
The baby of our top 10, Roxy Ball Room is a celebration of the true student experience, touting fresh dough pizzas, pool tables…and of course, beer-pong. Situated at the top of the Liverpool One complex, Roxy has everything the casual student night out could need – whether it’s just a ‘chilled few drinks’ or a warm-up to the real event.
As well as classic cocktails, there are also some ping-pong themed creations, priced at two for £10 during Happy Hour. Why not sip on one throughout a game of ping-pong itself – just £4.50 an hour or £6 during peak time.
10. The Shipping Forecast
Slater St
The Shipping Forecast is home to ‘Juicy’ one of Liverpool’s best and biggest student nights. From Biggie to TLC to Usher, Juicy has got your hip-hop needs covered.
There’s a £4 entry (£3 guest list) but its more than worth the fee with the DJ playing the best of party hip-hop, classic R&B and basement bangers.
