So, Easter has arrived. The nights have gotten lighter, and summer is fast approaching – yay!
But, hold on for a second! Even though it’s tempting to use your entire break to get away for three weeks or lounge around, you need to use this time to prepare for upcoming exams, assessments and deadlines too.
This is a work-hard, play-hard situation, and here’s exactly how you can achieve the perfect work-life balance over Easter.
Do universities have Easter holidays?
After the spring term (or semester) ends, university students across the UK have a long Easter break to look forward to! Also known as spring break, this period usually lasts for around three weeks and ends as the summer term begins.
Within this time are the Good Friday and Easter Monday bank holidays, which fall on the 18th and 21st of April this year.
Here are the 2025 Easter break dates for the three Liverpool Universities:
- The University of Liverpool – 7th of April – 25th of April
- John Moores University – 14th of April – 25th of April
- Liverpool Hope University – 14th of April – 25th of April
Achieving a work-life balance over Easter
Preparing for exam season during Easter is crucial, as the time you spend here will most likely make or break your final grades. With this in mind, here’s how to maintain the perfect balance between working and having springtime fun!
1. Create a revision schedule

The Semester 2 exam and assessment period usually falls in mid-May, which is only a few weeks after the Easter break ends! So, how can you kickstart a productive Spring revision period?
First of all, start by making a study schedule. This will help you keep track of what you’re revising, what you need to focus on more and how many hours you’ve spent with your head down.
Trust us when we say being organised is the key to a successful Spring break. You should consider doing the following:
- Writing down any assignments or revision tasks that need completing – breaking these down into manageable chunks will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed.
- Setting goals for each day that you can work towards
- Using colour-coded charts to keep track of deadlines
- Setting break times throughout your revision period – this is important, as overworking yourself and burning the midnight oil could cause you to burn out
Or, you may have other study strategies that have worked well for you over the years.
2. Set boundaries
Outlining strict study boundaries encourages healthy revision habits and reduces stress as it allows you to focus on the task at hand. You could try:
- Sticking to your study times – set a period for revising or working and stick to it. Try not to allow this to run into the night, as working while tired can be counterproductive.
- Allocating ‘work only’ spaces – by keeping your studies in a dedicated space in your home, you can separate work and relaxation time.
- Politely notifying friends and family when you plan on studying – saying no doesn’t come naturally to some of us, but asking your pals or family to respect your revision time will prevent distractions, allowing you to focus.
3. Dedicate time for relaxing
We mentioned this earlier, but relaxation time is really important during your university Easter break! Spend some time doing the things you love with friends and family between your study days.
You could go for a venture in the springtime sun or recharge your batteries in the local beer garden – you could even spend time alone gaming or watching your favourite shows!
4. Keep healthy and active
Maintaining a healthy, balanced diet and fitness routine is a great way to boost energy levels and reduce stress. Go for a walk, run, gym sesh, or do some light yoga. These activities can make you feel better physically and clear your mind.
