Whether you love it or loathe it, there’s no escaping the most romantic day of the year.
From candle-lit dinners to big bunches of roses and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates – there are plenty of things you can do to mark the occasion and surprise your other half.
If you’re an old romantic, you probably have a few things up your sleeve already. However, if you and your partner are unsure how to spend February 14th, perhaps you’ll be able to take some inspiration from the below date ideas.
Here we look at what you can get up to this Valentine’s Day in Liverpool city centre.
Valentine’s Day date ideas for students in Liverpool
1. Wine and dine at Carpathia Bar and Restaurant
With nautical-inspired interiors, breath-taking skyline views over the city and even better company – Carpathia Bar and Restaurant at 30 James Street Hotel promises a dining experience like no other.
It might be a tad too cold to sip tantalising cocktails on the rooftop terrace but, as they say, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.
Book a table at Carpathia’s restaurant on February 14th and tuck into some beautifully presented food – made from the freshest and locally sourced ingredients.
2. Enjoy a couples’ massage at the Titanic Hotel
Looking to treat that special someone this Valentine’s Day? Perhaps after studying hard for exams in January, you both could do with a little pampering?
Well, you’re in luck as the stunning Titanic Hotel is offering a 55 minute ESPA couples’ massage in their Dual Treatment Room for £160.
While this is one of the more expensive date ideas on the list, you also get access to the tranquil thermal suite for 2 hours, allowing you to put your worries to one side and relax.
3. Go for afternoon tea at Grand Central Hall
If posh date nights aren’t really your thing, then why not go for afternoon tea at Grand Central Hall with your sweetie?
Following on from their roaring success at Christmas, Soul Jam is back with a Valentine’s afternoon tea special on February 16th.
For just £25 each, you’ll get to enjoy live soul, RnB and Motown music, and leave with a tummy full of tasty sandwiches and sweet treats. What’s not to love?
4. Be serenaded at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic
Do you and your boyfriend or girlfriend enjoy listening to classical music?
The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic offers a truly special Valentine’s Day date, with performances from two former Liverpool Philharmonic choir members, Armand Rabot and Angelina Dorlin-Barlow.
You can also expect to hear stunning pieces of music from Donizetti, Brahms and Mendelssohn on the most romantic night of the year.
Tickets are available from £17 – we’d hate for you to miss out!
5. Cook a romantic dinner
Fancy a cosy night in, snuggled up on the sofa at your student accommodation?
While everyone else rushes around for dinner reservations and luxury getaways, you can create a feast that’s fit for a king or queen from the comfort of your shared kitchen. All you need to do is find a simple recipe and pick up your ingredients from the local supermarket.
Another great thing about wining and dining with your partner at your student house is that there’s no dress code – you can wear as much (or as little!) as you like.
Of course, if you’re not the best cook, you could always cheat and have a takeaway delivered to your student accommodation in Liverpool. This way you get to spend quality time with your Valentine whilst eating your fave food.
These are just some of the things you can do this Valentine’s day. There are many more cute and cheesy activities you can get up to around February 14th, and we’d love to hear your favourites ideas!
