The Best Student Nights in Liverpool (that won’t leave you skint)

The Best Student Nights in Liverpool (that won’t leave you skint)

Whether your Fresher’s week just ended or still going on (we’re looking at you, JMU), you’ll be glad to know the party is far from over.

Liverpool is a city known for its striking culture, rich history and famous musicians. But luckily for you guys, it’s also pretty well known for its student nights, ensuring you don’t go a week without fun at any time of the year.

We’ve put together a list of our most recommended student nights across the city. Many of them are within just a short walk from our student accommodation in Liverpool too, which means the walk of shame need never be long…

Brooklyn Mixer

Night: Monday

Endless beers, fun cocktails and bouncing beats come together in this Big Apple-inspired cocktail bar on Seel St.

Get down on a Monday where you’ll be greeted with three floors of eclectic music from emerging DJs, as well as a selection of weird and wonderful beers from around the world.

And if you’re feeling peckish at any time, Brooklyn’s finest nachos with all the toppings come in at just a measly £2. Ole!

Juicy – The Shipping Forecast

Night: Tuesday

If you’re not already familiar, The Shipping Forecast is a firm favourite on the Liverpool night out hitlist.

With worn, nautical vibes, live music in the basement and rather delightful food (spatchcock chicken anyone?), it’s a popular hangout by both night and day.

Every Tuesday, however, students are encouraged to gather for Juicy, a lively student night guaranteed to ease you into the week.

Playing a mix of party, old-school hip-hop, classic R&B and basement hits, this is a night where relaxed scenery meets cheap drinks, promising a pleasant time for all.

Level

Night: Wednesday

With music spanning three floors and six rooms, and some unbeatable drinks offers, Level is quite possibly one of the biggest clubs in Liverpool.

‘Love Wednesdays’ is surely Liverpool’s most popular weekly student event, with a range of hip hop, RnB and pop music and unrivalled production and lighting to go with. (Not forgetting, of course, the delightful offers on drinks – £2.50 for a double vodka mix, whaaat?!)

It’s also worth toddling down to their Friday event though, Hashtag. Though you’ll need to register on their website for a guestlist spot, it’s worth it for the queue jump and discounted £3 entry for both you and a friend.

Revolution

Night: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Revolution is one of Liverpool’s iconic bars that’s been around for ages. So long that it’s now spread to four different Liverpool locations – Wood St, St Peter’s Square, Cavern Quarter and the Albert Dock.

Known primarily for their vibrant array of flavoured shots (rhubarb & custard anyone?) and outrageously cheap drinks deals, students can get more for their buck on certain days of the week.
Wednesday sees I Love Vodka – a night of pop and chart music with cannons, sparklers and more shots than you can shake a limbo stick at.

If you’re still standing the day after, head down on a Thursday to Rascal, where there’ll be hip-hop and house all night, and a bunch of offers on cocktails and vodkas.

Follow Revolution on Facebook and there’ll be a competition each week, giving students the chance to win a bottle of vodka to kickstart their night out.

Not too shabby!

Bongo’s Bingo

Night: Thursday

We’ve mentioned our love for Bongo’s Bingo before, but what’s the harm in mentioning it again? For a night that’s totally out of the box, head to Camp & Furnace for a riotous round of Bongo’s Bingo.

Unlike any game of Bingo you’ve probably played before, Bongo’s delivers shots on demand, a raffle where you can win tasty cash prizes, street food and classic anthems you can dance to till you drop.

The event’s own host Johnny Bingo has become somewhat of a Liverpool legend in recent years, and with good reason.

For just two quid in, Bongo’s Bingo is a unique night out you’ll never forget.

Medication

Night: Friday

Promising to help you ‘escape from reality every Friday’, Medication is a night that could legitimately ‘medicate’ away your uni blues.

Ending the week in true Liverpool party style, Medication takes place at Seel St’s Arts Club. Carefully selected DJs come together to provide you with a night of music lasting long into the small hours, and appealing drink offers will keep both your glass and your wallet full (well, ish).

Medication has had a place in heart of Liverpool student life for over 20 years, and shows no signs of changing that soon.

Heebie Jeebies

Night: Friday

Heebie Jeebies is yet another near paradise for students looking for variety, cheap drinks and a euphoric atmosphere.

Whether you choose to hang out in the basement, the courtyard, or one of the two dancefloors, you’ll be sure to find a little of what you fancy in this shabby-chic venue.

Throw in a bunch of cheap drinks deals and exclusive offers on cocktails, and you’ve got yourself a bangin’ start or end to any night out.

Walkabout

Night: Saturday

Music. Sports. Party games. Cheap drinks

What more could you want?

Walkabout is pretty great at providing something for everybody, in its Aussie-style chilled out sports bar.
As well as giving awesome live sport experiences throughout the week (next thing to being there), students can really get into things on Epic Saturdays, when there’s 3 for £5 on shots, smoke machines, lasers, live DJs and discounted food and drink packages.

And always thinking about their audience, Walkabout very kindly provides free wi-fi and ‘mates-rates’ on a range of drinks every day of the week (students only!).

Check out their website or Facebook page to see what’s on and to book a package.

Krazyhouse

Night: Saturday

No student’s week could be complete without the Krazyhouse – a three-floored industrial funhouse sporting every genre of music you can imagine.

Whether you’re into dirty house, spirited pop punk, thrashing metal or catchy chart, Krazyhouse seriously delivers something for everyone within its industrial-style walls.

Beers and bottles are all two-for-one, vodka is automatically a double and mixers are free! Few things disappoint about the biggest alternative venue in the North.

Popworld

Night: Sunday

With cheesy classics and chart favourites blasting out dusk till dawn, it’s hard not to make Popworld a staple part of your night.

Students can enjoy free entry as well as exclusive drinks offers when they download the Popworld app. Woo Woo cocktails; pints of Strongbow, Carling and Becks, not to mention your faves WKD and Sourz…and a free WKD just for downloading the app!

It’s all available in plentiful form at your favourite colourful, care-free bar.

Carnage

Night: Sunday

A student night that’s known all over the UK, Carnage in Liverpool just had to go on our list.
Carnage is a chance to really get a feel for your new city, whether it’s meeting fellow students or getting acquainted with the local bars.

This year’s event will span some of the venues listed here – Popworld, Walkabout and Level – with some stops at Soho, McCooley’s, Black Rabbit and Fusion thrown in.

If you think you can handle it, buy your t-shirt from the Carnage website (just £10) and get ready to join your fellow trailblazers with a night full of mischief, surprises and fun.

Oh, and the fancy dress theme is Pyjama Jump, making for one very comfy night out.
