Liverpool’s festival scene has grown from strength to stregnth in recent years. The city is bursting with creative energy, culture and music. Recently the creative hub the Baltic Triangle has become a breeding ground for venues, promoters and artists to work in unison to host forward thinking events and festivals. Additonally, Sefton Park the Grade 1 historic park in south Liverpool has become a summer long home to a variety of different music, food and arts festivals. Here is our guide on the 2019 summer calendar of events.
Sound City
3-5 May 2019
Sound City is now a very much established cog in the Liverpool music calendar after 11 years of running. The Festival captures the vibrancy of the of the city with a 3 day celebration that takes place in multiple venues in the Baltic Triangle. Sound City 2019 will feature its most diverse line up yet, including Mabel, Loyle Carner, Louis Berry, The Magic Gang with many more to be announced.

Liverpool Disco Festival
5 May 2019
LDF draws crowds from all round the country, road blocking the Baltic Triangle for a weekend to celebrate the legacy of underground dance music inspired by Chicago and New York City. This years party sees live performances from Melba Moore, Rochelle Fleming and dj sets from Joey Negro, John Morales and Soul Clap.
Africa Oyé
22-23 June 2019
Africa Oye is the UK’s largest celebration of African & Carribbean music and culture. It takes place on Liverpools largest green space, Sefton Park. The socially concious festival aims to express Africa’s wide range of culture, food, muisc and artists, shaking off negative media portrayls off the continant. 2019 see’s BCUC, Sofiane Saidi & Mazalda and OSHUN top the bill. As always entry is free and food & drinks prices are low.

Baltic Weekender
31 May – 1 June 2019
Baltic Weekender is know for its forward thinking programming and laid back party atmosphere. Again taking place in a veriety of venues across Liverpool’s creative hub the Baltic Triangle. This years festival includes more names in underground dance music. The opening party will be headlined by techno superstar Nina Kravitz, whilst Friday and Saturday night line ups will inclufe Maribou State, George Fitzgerald, DJ Zinc and Special Request.

Cream Classical
19 July 2019
Cream Classical in the Park sees the famous Cream project head to Sefton Park for an open-air orchestral dance music extravaganza. Headlining the 20,000 cap festival are the Kaleidoscope Orchestra. The 50 piece collective are set to perform some of the Cream brands most legendary tracks. DJs Faithless, Paul Oakenfold and Roger Sanchez are also on the bill and sure to cause a spine tingling experience.

Liverpool International Music Festival
20-21 July 2019
Another one if Sefton Parks summer installments is LIMF. The local favourite weekend event is headlined by Sister Sledge & the Disco Classical live orchestra and Drum & Bass act Sigma. As the event is council funded tickets come in at a megre £6, which is incredible considering the line up also features Ella Eyre, NAO, Yxng Bane and hip-hop legends De La Soul.

Fusion Festival
31 August – 1 September 2019
This years Fusion Festival now at Sefton Park sees Kings of Leon, Rudimental and Little Mix headline the 3 day event. The pop festival moved to Liverpool from Birmingham in 2016 and has been a highly anticipated date in the summer calandar since. Stealthy support comes from the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Anne-Marie, Franz Ferdinand and Liverpools own Echo & the Bunnyman.
