Liverpool is a fantastic city to study in. Not only is it affordable, brimming with culture and history, it’s also home to two Premier League football clubs – Liverpool FC and Everton FC – and has a bustling nightlife. There’s plenty to see and do in between lectures and on your days off!

However, plummeting temperatures and blustery conditions are synonymous with autumn, and finding the motivation to venture out of the house can be difficult.

Luckily, we supply some of the best student accommodation Liverpool has to offer here at Caro Lettings – so you needn’t worry about braving the elements. All our rooms come with a host of amenities, including an en-suite bathroom, TV, shared kitchen and living room, and more.

Although we supply everything you need, you might want to make your student house feel more like a home to curb feelings of homesickness, or to simply keep it “on trend”.

Here our team share a few simple yet effective (and affordable) ways you can make your student house more cosy this autumn.

5 autumnal ideas for your student accommodation

1.    Layer up the sofa with a fluffy throw

With chilly weather on the way, you’ve probably already thought about adding a few extra layers to your stylish outfits – be it an oversized hoody or chunky-knit scarf. But what about the settee at your student accommodation in Liverpool?

Adding a faux-fur throw (or two) will instantly give your space a cosier vibe and make nights in front of the TV more inviting than ever before. After all, who wants to endure the cold weather when they can stay home, snuggled up with a good film?

2.    Swap bright summer hues for warm, autumnal tones

Cushions are often used to adorn beds and sofas. Although they come in all shapes, sizes, colours, and fabrics, try opting for warm greens, golden browns and yellows, and orangey reds.

The same applies to any other soft furnishings, such as bedding, curtains, tablecloths, bath and dish towels, etc. Save brightly coloured items and pretty prints for the summer months.

3.    Spice up the scent

Pumpkin spice latte, cinnamon sticks, and apple cider are all scents that we typically associate with this season.

Whilst scented candles are a popular option for adding an autumnal scent to rooms, most student accommodation providers don’t allow them for safety reasons. Instead of lighting candles, you could buy a reed diffuser or a seasonal air freshener.

Better yet, why not bake something at your student accommodation in Liverpool? Not only do you get to enjoy your delicious creations but your house will smell AMAZING too.

4.    Add fairy lights

Want to create a spooky set-up in your bedroom? Try draping some battery-operated fairy lights along the wall behind your bed.

Though warm white fairy lights are perfect all year round, you could decorate your student accommodation with pumpkin, spider, or skull LED lights. Ideal if you’re having a Halloween party with your housemates!

5.    Don’t forget the pumpkins

If you thought pumpkin-carving was just for kids, think again. It can be a great way to bond with your housemates – especially if you’re in your first year at uni – and gives you the opportunity to unleash your creativity.

Once you’ve finished carving your pumpkins, be sure to decorate them with paint, toothpicks, or fairy lights. Then pop them on your kitchen table, in the lounge area, on the front doorstep, or somewhere else, in time for October 31st.

How will you decorate your student accommodation?

There are lots of things you can do to make your digs feel more comfortable – these are just some of our favourites.

However you choose to decorate your student accommodation this autumn, remember to set yourself a realistic budget and stick to it. You don’t need to go over the top to make it feel cosy. In fact, you’d be surprised how much of a difference a few simple tweaks here and there can make!
